Holsters

My holsters are made from Hermann Oak vegetable tanned leather.  The leather is in its natural light tan and must be dyed during holster construction.

This is how I make a holster:
Picture
  • A pattern is created from the actual gun or from a gun mold (Blue Gun).  The pattern is transferred to the leather and the leather is cut.

Picture
  • If needed, a crease is added to the mouth of the holster.

Picture
  • Stitching grooves are cut and belt holes are cut.

Picture
  • The holster is sewn on a heavy-duty leather stitching machine.

Picture
  • The holster is cased (moistened) and the gun or mold (in this case, a Blue Gun plastic mold) is pushed into it.

  • If a gun mold is being used, the holster can be formed in a hydraulic press. If an actual firearm is being used, all forming is done by hand.

  • The holster is vat dyed and the edges are finished.
