I've been home for a few days and have reviewed my photos from my recent Paris trip. When I'm traveling, and posting to this (Journal) page, I select a few pictures to upload. When I return home, I carefully go through all of my images, select the best and post-process. These images can be viewed on my Photo Album page. click here
For those that are interested, images were taken with a Sony RX100-6 or an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Post-processing was in Adobe Lightroom Classic. The image of the minaret of the Grande Mosquée de Paris is HDR (Sixth row, center). It was created from a five-image bracket, with a total range of five f-stops.

Désolé, my last day in Paris (At least until August). Il fait beau…another day of incredible Spring weather. Today, I spent more time in the Marais, walking around with a camera.
Occasionally, friends mention they would like to join me in Paris at some time. I walk a lot. My daily walking mileage, during this trip has been:
I visited a really pretty church this morning. Afterwards, I walked around Les Halles, with the assistance of VoiceMap.
At the beginning of my trip, the weather was chilly and overcast. The weather has changed to absolutely beautiful, the essence of “April in Paris.” Today, the weather was mild and partly sunny and perfect for a gourmet food walking tour in the 1er Arrondessement. We visited many food shops and finished up at a wine bar. Thoroughly enjoyable. Afterwards, a visit to E. Dehillerin was in order. My Canelé obsession started there a few years ago. FYI-No purchased were made.
This morning I attended the couture exhibit at Musée du Louvre. It was unique and extraordinary. The fashion exhibits were placed among other permanent displays. You would walk through galleries, filled with objet d’art and these incredible fashion pieces. Afterwards, I went to the Marais for a walk and lunch. This evening I had a wonderful dinner with friend Cyril D. A good day.
This morning I went on a self-guided (GPS) walking tour of the area around Parc Montsouris, in the 14 ème. Let me summarize: unremarkable. The tour presenter was super but it’s just not a very nice area. No pix worthy of posting.
Late in the afternoon I attended a class at La Cuisine Paris. It started with a market shopping trip in the Marais. We returned to their facility and prepared a wonderful dinner. I’ve taken many classes and gone on numerous walking tours with La Cuisine Paris and all of them have been wonderful. Today it rained, making it ideal to attend a gin making class at La Distillerie de l'Arbre Sec. Each participant had a small pot still and was able to choose botanicals for their project. One leaves with their own bottle of gin. Très cool!
Dinner was with good friend Cyril D. at La Fontaine de Mars. Cassoulet! I arrived in Paris after an uneventful trip (STL-ORD-CDG). The apartment is a modern building in a super area (7 ème). The apartment even has a view of the Eiffel Tower (see image!). Today was a bit of shopping and a walk around le quartier. Basically, Paris has recovered from the effects of the Olympics. Merci beaucoup.
Claire and I, with dear friend Mark G., have just returned from eight nights on Maui. Mark and I scuba dived four days. In addition, Claire, Mark and I went on a whale-watching cruise and a snorkel cruise.
Photos have been added to the Photo Album and scuba videos have been added to the Scuba Videos page. A video of our whale watching cruise is in the Photo Album. As in our previous three trips to Maui, we stayed at the Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa, located just outside of Lahaina. Lahaina was devastated by wildfires in early August 2023 and is slowly (very slowly) rebuilding. I’m sure it will never be the same. Good trip! |
