What a great last day! Versailles. Dinner at Au Bretzel (Jerry-Look familiar?). And, finally, a lit up Tour Eiffel.
Today, the beautiful weather returned. We took the Métro to Montparnasse and walked through Jardin des Grand Explorateurs and Le Jardin du Luxembourg. After stopping for lunch, we continued walking to Notre Dame. After dinner, we attended a concert at Sainte-Chapelle.
Claire and I have spent a lot of time in Paris so we don’t have a pressing tourist agenda. Today was our first day with less than ideal weather. It started with rain, followed by overcast. We took the Métro to Place de la Concorde and then walked through Jardin des Tuileries. We continued up Avenue des Champs-Élysées to the Louis Vuitton store. It was an expensive day.
Chantilly is a very nice town not far outside of Paris. It’s about 30 minutes by train but about 1 ½ hours by car. More on that later. There is a racetrack, horse training facilities and the most incredible stables imaginable. Then there is a beautiful château and gardens.
We took the train from Paris Gare de Nord to Chantilly and spent most of the day there. When we returned to the train station, for the return to Paris, we discovered that all trains we delayed due to an accident on the line, involving a person. Typically this means a suicide. We then learned that the delay could be two to three hours. The Uber was $116.00 and was a great value! À bientôt, Jeff Villandry has the most beautiful gardens in the Loire Valley, if not all of France. In addition, throw in an unexpected car show!
