The mauvais weather continues. More accurately, it got worse. The day was, at best, overcast. Later, it rained.
I've always enjoyed the walking tours (self-guided) on www.historywalksparis.com. They are arranged by century. Each walk includes detailed historical information and a map. They are great. Today, we walked part of the 19th Century plan. Early this evening, we went to the Eiffel Tower, in the rain.

What/ Where is the blue glass ball? And is that a reflection I see in it, or just the texture of the glass?

I had to look up the name Louvois. Nothing significant that I can find, except that it was the "nickname (?)" of Louis IV's minister of war, François-Michel de Tellier. Not nearly as interesting a story as M. Poubelle!
