Today started with breakfast with Jeremy and Sofia A. They are Bennett cousins. Lunch was at a restaurant near the hotel…pictures below. Dinner was a La Fontaine de Mars. Last pic is the confit de carnard at dinner. The day was rather food focused.
We arrived in Paris late yesterday morning, left our bags in the hotel and headed out. We went on a short walking tour I created in Google Maps.
Today, due to a closing of the one RER line to Versailles, we cancelled our planned trip to Versailles and did an audio on walking tour of Montmartre. I've been home for a few days and have reviewed my photos from my recent Paris trip. When I'm traveling, and posting to this (Journal) page, I select a few pictures to upload. When I return home, I carefully go through all of my images, select the best and post-process. These images can be viewed on my Photo Album page. click here
For those that are interested, images were taken with a Sony RX100-6 or an iPhone 16 Pro Max. Post-processing was in Adobe Lightroom Classic. The image of the minaret of the Grande Mosquée de Paris is HDR (Sixth row, center). It was created from a five-image bracket, with a total range of five f-stops. Désolé, my last day in Paris (At least until August). Il fait beau…another day of incredible Spring weather. Today, I spent more time in the Marais, walking around with a camera.
Occasionally, friends mention they would like to join me in Paris at some time. I walk a lot. My daily walking mileage, during this trip has been:
I visited a really pretty church this morning. Afterwards, I walked around Les Halles, with the assistance of VoiceMap.
At the beginning of my trip, the weather was chilly and overcast. The weather has changed to absolutely beautiful, the essence of “April in Paris.” Today, the weather was mild and partly sunny and perfect for a gourmet food walking tour in the 1er Arrondessement. We visited many food shops and finished up at a wine bar. Thoroughly enjoyable. Afterwards, a visit to E. Dehillerin was in order. My Canelé obsession started there a few years ago. FYI-No purchased were made.
This morning I attended the couture exhibit at Musée du Louvre. It was unique and extraordinary. The fashion exhibits were placed among other permanent displays. You would walk through galleries, filled with objet d’art and these incredible fashion pieces. Afterwards, I went to the Marais for a walk and lunch. This evening I had a wonderful dinner with friend Cyril D. A good day.
This morning I went on a self-guided (GPS) walking tour of the area around Parc Montsouris, in the 14 ème. Let me summarize: unremarkable. The tour presenter was super but it’s just not a very nice area. No pix worthy of posting.
Late in the afternoon I attended a class at La Cuisine Paris. It started with a market shopping trip in the Marais. We returned to their facility and prepared a wonderful dinner. I’ve taken many classes and gone on numerous walking tours with La Cuisine Paris and all of them have been wonderful. |
